Theory Design came from an interest in digital design that began in March of 2000. Originally, it was a nameless hobby of Brian Rutledge but, while experimenting for a couple years in the field, met Michael Gensel, who also had similar interests in the field, and soon formed the graphics design group, Theory6, in late 2002.

Theory6 remained a simple graphic design group for several years. The members participated in graphic design 'battles' or contests and competitions, while recruiting other like-minded designers into the group.

Over the years, the group splintered off into seperate paths and Brian Rutledge renamed the now solo interest to SixthTheory to differentiate the change. Still a simple graphic design operation and still participating in competitions while practicing in the field and now free-lancing for commercial projects.

Then, in 2008, Michael Gensel rejoined Brian Rutledge in the effort. It was decided that Theory6 would once again be the name of the group and it was then brought to a commercial level, functioning not only as a design group, but a free-lance design firm, or company for the next 3 years.

Theory6 started building a concept for a new type of design community in 2009 and 2010, with the aim to further the advancement and networking of designers and artists. Built by the designers and artists, for the designers and artist. Due to time constraints, the project was put on hold. It has not been decided at this point in time if the design community will be re-envisioned or continued.

Though due to different things progressing in both members lives, the paths once again stemmed into different directions in 2011. Now, Brian Rutledge has completely restructured the company into a more relevant and formulated design firm and renamed the effort to Theory Design to accomodate a changing market, business plan, and clientele.

Theory Design, offering a wide array of digital design services at noticably incredible prices compared to competitors, has reached it's next evolutionary stage. Welcome to the NEXT EVOLUTION OF DESIGN.
